This idea is one I saw on the Supercell forums, but it's a great idea and it really should be added. These effects of both last for 3 seconds and can't be stacked.

Streams:

These 1x1 tiles unlock at 5 per townhall level, starting at townhall 7! This means a townhall 12 player can have a maximum of 30. These tiles have two effects: To slow down ground troops and counter fire attacks. All troops and heroes consider them as walls of the level of the Stream/ lava lake.

Lava Lakes:

Unlocked at townhall 9, these 1x1 tiles will devastate your opponent's tier one troops if they attempt to swim through them! All tier 1 troops will die unless a heal is used. 4 are unlocked per level, though you start with 8 at townhall 9. A townhall 12 can hold 20 of these.

Please note that these are NOT traps, so they do not need to be re-armed. In fact, they can be activates an infinite amount of times.
